574 players, 366 Indians, Pant and Iyer in top bracket for IPL Mega Auction

IPL Mega Auction: Wicketkeeper-batsmen Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Arshdeep Singh will be among the list of 574 players with a top base price of Rs 2 crore in the Indian Premier League auction to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25.

13-year-old India Under-19 cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar is the youngest player with a base price of Rs 30 lakh.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday reduced the initial list of 1574 players to 574, of which 366 are Indian and 208 are foreign cricketers. All the current Indian players are in the top base price bracket.

Pant (Rishabh Pant) will be among the most expensive players sold in the auction. A team like Punjab Kings has Rs 110.50 crore to buy players. Other big names include IPL-winning captain Shreyas Iyer, India’s best T20 international bowler Arshdeep Singh, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal and Avesh Khan.

There are 81 players in the top ‘bracket’ while 27 cricketers are in the Rs 1.5 crore category. There are 18 players in the Rs 1.25 crore category while 23 have priced themselves at Rs 1 crore.

England’s Jos Buttler is also in the top base price ‘bracket’ of Rs 2 crore along with compatriots Harry Brook and Jonny Bairstow while retired James Anderson is in the T20 format. Despite not being strong, he is included in the list with a base price of Rs 1.25 crore.

The top ‘bracket’ from overseas players includes South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada, Enrique Norqua, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Australia’s Mitchell Starc. Marco Jansen and Rachin Ravindra are priced at Rs 1.25 crore.

India’s former U-19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand, who has gone to America, has made it as a player for the associate member country, while fast bowler Saurabh Netravalkar is not included in it. (Language)
