The BCCI’s annual general meeting to be held in late September (AGM) stakes some top positions, including the post of Board President and Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman.

Roger Binny cannot become president again
The most interesting election will be of the BCCI President. Roger Binny, who has completed his 70th birthday in July, cannot be re -elected as the President of BCCI according to the current constitution. Because stakeholders want a big Indian player in place of Binny.
Ganguly, who successor Binny?
A senior BCCI official told PTI on the condition of confidentiality, ‘There is a belief among the important stakeholders that a reputed cricketer should always be elected president. Sourav Ganguly was a respected Indian captain and Roger Binny was India’s first World Cup winner hero. However, how many prestigious cricketers will be interested in holding this top position, this is a big question.
After the completion of six years of the current IPL president Arun Dhumal, there is a possibility of going on a three -year compulsory (cooling of) break. Many names are being discussed as his possible successor.
IPL chairman’s fight between these two faces
Former secretary of Mumbai Cricket Association Sanjay Naik and current BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla are in discussion for the post of IPL President. However, no final decision has been taken yet. If Congress leader Shukla once again becomes IPL President, then Bihar Cricket Association President and BJP leader Rakesh Tiwari can become a contender for the post of BCCI Vice President.
Rajiv Shukla can be rich in luck
Rajiv Shukla’s case is also interesting. His term as Vice President started in 2020 and according to the Lodha Constitution, he has a year left, but it has a screw. If the National Sports Administration Act 2026 is implemented before the next annual general meeting (AGM), then the Rajya Sabha MP will not need to take the (Cooling of) break.
