Bcci Elections: The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) general annual meeting (AGM) will be held here on September 28, in which the election for several posts including Board President and Indian Premier League (IPL) president will be included in the main agenda. The post of BCCI President is vacant since the resignation of former Indian cricketer Roger Binny earlier this month, while IPL President Arun Dhumal is expected to go to a mandatory break (cool-off period) after completing his six-year term.
Although elections are to be held for all major positions of BCCI, it is to be effectively for one post as the officers are likely to remain in other positions.
BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has completed three years including two years and three months as Joint Secretary and nine months as Secretary, which is sure to continue in the post.
Saikia was unanimously elected secretary in January this year after Jai Shah took over as the president of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Other officers who are likely to be held in the post are Rohan Gaons Desai and Prabhtej Bhatia. Desai was elected Joint Secretary and Bhatia as Treasurer in January this year.
It was earlier reported that Binny, who was 70 years old in July, will remain the BCCI President till the annual general meeting (AGM) to be held in September. Binny was appointed as the BCCI President in October 2022. (Language)
