Former India captain Sourav Ganguli has scored 38 centuries in international cricket but does not like this number and regrets to miss many centuries during his cricket career. Ganguly, a left -handed veteran batsman of his time, scored 18575 runs in Tests and ODIs in a total of 18575 runs, but he regrets missing several centuries in his career. He played 311 ODIs and 113 Test matches.
Ganguly expressed this regret when he was asked what advice he would like to give to the old Ganguly.
Ganguly said in an interview with PTI, “I missed out on a century several times, I should have scored more runs.” I scored 90 and 80 runs several times. ”
If we look at the data of Ganguly, then it is known that he was dismissed after crossing the number of 80 or 90 runs 30 times. If he had been successful in converting these innings into a century, then more than 50 centuries would have been recorded in his name.
When Ganguly is alone, he likes to see his old innings. From this he remembers how close he was to score more centuries.
He said, “I watch my (batting) video when I am alone. When my wife is not at home because Sana lives in London. I go to YouTube, and see and say to myself, hey, then it was dismissed for 70 runs. I should have scored a century. But now you can’t change it. ”
Ganguly has scored 72 half -centuries in ODIs and 35 half -centuries in Test cricket.
It becomes necessary to take difficult decisions sometimes as a captain. You have to exclude a player and include the player who feels that the circumstances or the need of the team is much better.
Ganguly expressed regret over the exclusion of Anil Kumble, one of the world’s greatest leg spinners.
He said, “Anil Kumble did not get a chance some time, because he was a very good player.”
Ganguly when asked if the International Cricket Council (ICC) should take tough steps to curb the spread of T20 leagues worldwide to prevent the temptation to play the players in T20 tournaments that pay the players, they said it is probably difficult to change.
Dhakad batsmen like Nicholas Poran and Heinrich Klassen (He) had retired from international cricket to play in the T20 league worldwide, which also surprised Ganguli.
He said, “They make rules, but I do not know how you can stop the Test playing countries from creating your league.”
Australia is Ganguly’s favorite rival team and Australia’s fast bowler Glenn McGraw is the most dangerous bowler for him.
Ganguly also revealed that his biopic would be released by the end of 2026 and Rajkumar Rao will be its hero.
He said, “Its shooting will begin in January. Pre-production, script preparing and story writing takes a long time. Shooting does not take much time. ”(Language)
