Australia’s 35 -year -old fast bowler Mitchell Starc believes that he still has a lot left to play Tests and ODI cricket and he is ready to make a lot of use of his body to achieve more success in the longest format of the game. Stark recently announced his retirement from T20 international cricket to keep himself ready for Ashes, IPL, Test Series in India and ODI World Cup in two years. This means that this star fast bowler will not play in the T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka early next year.
Cricket.com Dot AU quoted Stark as saying, “I want to use my body more and more to play as much test cricket as possible.”
He said, “I felt that I would have to leave one of other formats. I think I have a lot to give to the ODI team and my goal is to maintain my fitness by 2027. Also, for the World Cup to be held in 2027, you will also have to perform very well to make a place in the team.
Stark played an important role in the T20 World Cup in 2021 in the United Arab Emirates, where Australia won its first world title in this format.
He said, “I was confused about which format would be right. I chose ODI keeping in mind the World Cup to be held in 2027. I still feel that I have a lot to give to the ODI team. I thought a lot about this. I think it was probably the right time. I am 35 years old. Test cricket has always been the first priority for me and will be ahead. ”(Language)
