India’s first innings was reduced to 224 runs on Friday, the second day of the fifth Test match against Engvsind England. India started the day by 204 runs for six wickets but the team lost all four wickets to add just 20 runs. Karun Nair contributed the highest 57 runs for India. For England, Gas Atkinson for England.

India lost six wickets for 153 runs, after which Nair (52 not out, 98 balls, seven fours) and Washington Sundar (19 not out) tried to make the team a comeback by making an unwavering partnership of 51 runs for the seventh wicket.
Like the first two sessions for India, the start in the third season did not go well. Sai Sudarshan (38), who was playing at one end, was caught by wicketkeeper Jamie Smith on Tung’s brilliant outswing, which led to India’s score to 101 runs for four wickets.
Nair hit two fours in the next over of Tung, but the fast bowler caught Ravindra Jadeja (09) at the hands of Smith and gave India a fifth blow. Jadeja scored an unbeaten century in the second innings of the fourth Test and saved India from defeat with Washington.
Dhruv Jurael appeared in a good rhythm during the 19 -run innings. He avoided being fabricated on the ball of Gas Atkinson, but caught Harry Brook in the second slip on the next ball.
Nair attempted to reduce the pressure on Jamie overton with two consecutive fours. Their and Washington faced England bowlers firmly. Nair completed the first half -century of his career in 89 balls with two runs off Jacob Bethel’s ball in the 62nd over and along with the team score to 200 runs.
Earlier, due to rain, only six overs were played between lunch and tea, in which India scored 13 runs after losing the wicket of captain Shubman Gill (21).
The game of the second session started at 3 pm local time due to the sudden rains before lunch.
After looking at the crease, Gill tried to take a non -essential run off Atkinson’s ball and this fast bowler run him out.
After giving some of this, it started raining again and the players had to return, after which the break of tea was taken.
Gill has scored 743 runs in the current series so far and beaten the legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar and became the Indian batsman to score the most runs in a series. Gavaskar scored 732 runs against West Indies in the 1978–79 Test series.
India lost the wickets of their openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Lokesh Rahul in the morning session on the grass pitch, but performed well by scoring 72 runs for two wickets till lunch.
England won the toss and decided to bowl first on the pitch with the most grass presence of the series. Gill lost the toss five times in the current series. The ball was doing seam as expected but was not swinging too much.
Etkinson, playing his first match of the series, dismissed Jaiswal (02) in his second over. The field umpire did not give out but he had to change the decision on taking DRS as the ball inside was stumped.
Other fast bowlers Josh Tung and Jamie Overton had difficulty in maintaining control. Tung scored 12 runs in his first over which included 10 runs through two wide on either side of the stump.
In the first hour of the game, India’s score was 36 runs for one wicket. Rahul (14 runs) in good form became the second batsman to be dismissed. He played on wickets while trying to cut Chris Woakes’ short ball.
Sudarshan hit fours off the balls of Tung and Vox while the most successful batsman of the existing series, Gill sent the oven’s ball for four runs above the cover and then put a boundary on both sides. Jurael included. (Language)
England also made four changes. The team announced this on Wednesday as the injured captain Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer were not available for selection.
