India draws fourth Test with adventure of Gill, Jadeja and Sundar
England captain Ben Stokes was adjudged Player of the Match for taking six wickets in the match and scoring 141 runs. After the completion of Sundar’s century, both teams joined hands. For the first time in Indian cricket history, three batsmen scored a century in the second innings (Gill, Jadeja and Washington).
Jadeja and Sundar did not give England a chance to take an edge in the series, performing adventure and combative performance. Both of them kept England bowlers away from taking wickets in the second and third session. Both completed their centuries in a bang. Jadeja reached the century by hitting a six while Sundar completed his first century by hitting a four and two runs. Jadeja hit 13 fours and a six in an unbeaten 107 off 186 balls, while Sundar scored an unbeaten 101 runs off 206 balls with the help of nine fours and a six.
Indian captain Shubman Gill gave credit for his top order and said that such a performance is incredible after losing the first two wickets. When KL Rahul missed the century, Shubman Gill scored the fourth century of his career and the fourth century of the series. India has scored 49 runs in 26 overs in this session, while losing two wickets.
India started playing ahead by 174 runs for two wickets on Saturday. In the morning session, KL Rahul added three runs in his score that England captain Ben Stokes fabricated him and gave him a third blow to India. KL Rahul scored 90 runs in 230 balls with the help of eight fours.
After this, Washington Sundar, who came to bat, took care of the score at a slow pace while playing with Gill. Meanwhile, on the last ball of the 83rd over, Shubman Gill completed his century by taking a run off Vox. Gill faced 228 balls for his fourth century of this Test series. This is the slowest century of Shubman Gill’s Test career. With this, Gill became an Indian batsman to score a century in Manchester after Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin scored a century in 1991 at this ground.
Before lunch, Jofra Archer gave a big blow to India by catching Shubman Gill out of the wicket by Smith. Gill scored 103 runs in 238 balls with the help of 12 fours. Chris Woakes took two wickets from England. Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer dismissed one batsman each. The only session was in which England got wickets.
