Preparations to write a new chapter in Bihar’s sports history are at full speed. The International Cricket Stadium being built in Rajgir is now moving towards its final outline. In the cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the responsibility of maintenance of this stadium has been entrusted to the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA). This means that now this stadium will be looked after by BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and the way of big competitions of cricket will open here.

This stadium being built on about 90 acres of land will be the largest and modern stadium in Bihar. With the capacity of about 45,000 spectators, it will be counted not only among the major cricket sites in Bihar but eastern India. Its design has been designed on the lines of Australia’s famous Sydney Cricket Ground.

The stadium is being constructed under the Bihar Sports Academy. To make the pitch and outfield of high quality here, red soil has been called from Maharashtra and black soil from Mokama. Due to advanced drainage and sprinkler system, matches will be started early even after rain.

Gym, medical room, dressing room, and multiple pavilion, media centers and other facilities for the audience will be available for players at Rajgir Stadium. All this is being prepared according to the standards of the International Cricket Council (ICC). This is the reason that as soon as it is ready, it can be easily certified to host international matches.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself had come to take stock of the construction work in 2025 and expressed satisfaction over the fast preparations for the outfield and the pavilion. According to reports, 85-90% of the stadium’s work has been completed and it is expected to be fully prepared by the end of 2025.

Till now, Bihar’s cricket lovers had to move to Kolkata or Delhi to watch international matches. But with the formation of Rajgir Stadium, not only the youth of Bihar will get to see world -class matches in their state, but big home tournaments like IPL and Ranji Trophy will also be held here. This will promote sports tourism in the state, will benefit the local economy and will also inspire the youth.

Sports Complex.

For Bihar cricket, this is not just a building, but a dream is to be fulfilled. Now waiting for the day when the first international match will be played on Rajgir’s soil and the entire stadium “Chakka! Fourteen!” Will be filled with echoes
