He overtook Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) by scoring the 7th Test century of his career on the second day of the first Test match against England. With this, he has become the Indian wicketkeeper to score the most Test century.
Pant made this record in extreme style, he completed this century by hitting Shoaib Bashir on the first ball of the 100th over of the Indian innings. This is his first century after September 2024. Last time he scored 109 runs against Bangladesh.

Dhoni scored 4876 runs in 90 matches in his Test career, including 6 centuries and 33 half -centuries. At the same time, Pant has completed 3000 runs in only 44 Tests, and his average is about 44 runs per innings. He has also scored 15 half -centuries so far.
