Despite Engvsind defeat in the previous match and some leading players were injured, the Indian team will leave no stone unturned to return to the series in the fourth Test match against England on Wednesday and win for the first time in Old Trafford, however, India may be forced to withdraw from their formulas tried so far. After the first Test in Leeds, India included three all -rounders in the playing XI. These also included Nitish Reddy, who are now out of the series due to a knee injury.
In the presence of two spin bowling all -rounders like Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, India had the scope to batd up to number eight, but there is probably not in Manchester where the Indian team has not won yet. India has played nine matches here so far, out of which it faced defeat while the remaining five matches were drawn. England is still moving 2–1 in the current series and if India has to keep this series of five matches alive then it will have to win here.
Injuries increased the concern of Team India
Shardul Thakur, who played the first Test match of the series, may be included in the final XI in place of Reddy but has not been as well in batting. If he is taken in the team, he will have to do his performance in bowling as well as Reddy took wickets on important occasions in the third Test at Lord’s.
India can try the combination of Leeds again, where he had only one spinner as Jadeja and an expert batsman up to number six, with both Karun Nair and Sai Sudarshan in the playing XI, besides the new fast bowler Anshul Kamboj and the famous Krishna are also contenders to make a place in the last eleventh. If the sky is not fully recovered from the lamp back injury, then any of these can take their place.
Like Akash Deep, combos can also create good seam movements. He was also part of India A’s England tour and thus aware of the circumstances here. Tej bowlers Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj are scheduled to make a place in the playing XI.
The Indian batsmen could not run for the first time in the series at Lord’s and if India had to return to the series, captain Shubman Gill-led batting line-up would have to perform well again. The Gill could not perform well in the third Test match but despite this, the series has more than 600 runs in the series. His big score for India matters a lot.
Jofra Archer dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal twice in his successful comeback in Test cricket and the left -handed batsman will be better prepared to deal with England fast bowler at the extra speed. Even though Gill has scored the most runs for India in the series, he is KL Rahul who is seen more trusted batsmen. India will again expect concrete performance from them.
Seeing India’s practice session before the match, it seems that Rishabh Pant has completely recovered from his finger injury and will fulfill his double responsibility as usual. If Nair gets another chance, he will be desperate to convert his good start into a big score. Jadeja, who scored four consecutive half -centuries, is strengthening the middle order but will also have to perform better in bowling.
India has got a chance to play less in Manchester than other places in England. He played his last Test match here in 2014. The last century from India on this ground was scored by Sachin Tendulkar in 1990. While India is eyeing the series, England will try to gain an invincible lead.
The toss will be important due to weather
As it usually happens, Ben Stokes chose his last XI before the match and the only change in his team is to include Liam Dawson in place of injured Shoaib Bashir. The left -arm spinner played his last match for England in July 2017. Manchester has been raining continuously for the last one week and light rainfall is expected to receive light five days. This can benefit the fast bowlers. Therefore, the captain who won the toss will prefer to bowl.
The teams are as follows:
India: Shubman Gill (Captain), Rishabh Pant (Vice -captain and wicketkeeper), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudarshan, Abhimanyu Ishwar, Karun Nair, Rabindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurlel (wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammed Sirj, famous Krishna Deep, Akash Deepo.
England team: Jack Croly, Ben Docket, Oli Pope (Deputy Capnor), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (Captain), Jamie Smith (wicket-keeper), Liam Dawson, Chris Woakes, Bridon Cars, Jofra Archer.
