Engvsind Indian captain Shubman Gill was nominated for South African Vian Mulder and England captain Ben Stokes on Wednesday for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Best Player Award for July. India’s youth team draws the series 2–2.
Gill scored 754 runs in the series with an average of 75.40 and four centuries. He also scored a double century. The 25 -year -old batsman broke Sunil Gavaskar’s record (732) of the most runs by an Indian captain in the series.
The ICC wrote on its website, “This month was fantastic for Shubman Gill. He scored 567 runs in three Tests at an average of 94.50 in this month during this exciting series.
The ICC said, “He played a key role in India’s record win in Edgbaston. He scored 269 runs in the first innings of the match and 161 runs in the second innings. In this way, he scored a total of 430 runs in the match, which is the second highest score after 456 runs of Graham Gooch in one Test.
The ICC said Gill carried forward the legacy of “all -time great” Virat Kohli at number four. In his first match as the captain of South Africa, Mulder scored a huge innings of 367 not out against Zimbabwe. He declared his team’s innings when he could break the record of 400 unbeaten 400 of the highest individual score against the great Brian Lara in 2004 against England. He scored 531 runs in two matches at an average of 265.50.
The ICC said, “Mulder also contributed to bowling and took seven wickets at an average of 15.28, including four wickets in the first Test.” ICC appreciated Stokes’ all -round performance against India, saying, “He scored 251 runs at an average of 50.20 and took 12 wickets with an average of 26.33. He performed well with both bat and ball under pressure circumstances.‘(Language)
