India vs england test series: England vice -captain Oli Pope believes that the young Indian team led by Shubman Gill has a lot of depth and talent but during the five -Test series starting in Leeds from June 20, he will lack the glow of Virat Kohli.
India has selected the youth team for this high-profile series after retiring from Test cricket of veterans like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
The Pope told ‘TalkSport’ cricket, “This is a young team but these Indian players have great depth and talent. So they have many young players. There are many good players. His new captain Shubman Gill is a great player. Virat Kohli, who stood in the slip, will miss the glow of the shine. ”
He said, “But he has some good talents so he will be full of confidence. But our players are ready for this. ”
India has not won any Test series in England since 2007. He has lost defeat in 2011, 2014 and 2018 while the 2021-22 series was drawn.
The Pope described the upcoming series as important for the preparation of England for the Ashes to be held later this year.
He said, “This is a great time for us to play with India. In the last summer we played with West Indies and Sri Lanka. This is the perfect time to play with India and once when the Ashes comes, it will be exciting. ”(Language)
